Qlik announced that it has expanded its strategic partnership with Databricks with support for Delta Share, the latter’s open protocol for secure data sharing that was unveiled last week.
This means that customers can now leverage the integration between Qlik and Databricks to share relevant data sets and insights more easily and securely with stakeholders within their ecosystem.
Specifically, customers can rely on Databricks’ Delta Lake and Qlik’s unique associative engine to share impactful insights that help improve supply chain vendor relationships, enhance prospect interactions, and drive deeper and more long-lasting customer satisfaction through data.
Delta Sharing
Delta Sharing is an open-source project to create an open protocol for secure, real-time exchange of large datasets across data-centric solutions. It gives organizations a way to grant, track, and audit access to shared data from a single point of enforcement – allowing them to meet privacy and compliance requirements.
Live data can be shared directly without having to first copy it, enabling a cloud data lake or data lakehouse to be secured shared either in the Delta Lake or Apache Parquet formats.
For the uninitiated, a data lakehouse is an environment designed to combine the data structure and data management features of a data warehouse with the low-cost storage of a data lake.
Qlik says its strategic partnership with Databricks has been growing, driven by a focus to help customers maximize the value of data and analytics with any cloud. This includes its strong overall integration on its platform and last year’s integration with Databricks SQL.
“Enterprises want a secure way to confidently share their valuable analytics insights and data sets with partners, customers, and prospects while avoiding vendor lock-in,” said Pankaj Dugar, vice president of Product Partnerships at Databricks.
“Qlik shares our approach to an open data ecosystem, and their support of Delta Sharing will help provide customers a way to share visualized data sets regardless of their choice of storage or computing platform, enhancing the value of their hard-earned insights,” said Dugar.
“We’re excited about the value joint customers will see through our continued growing relationship with Databricks and support for Delta Sharing,” said Itamar Ankorion, the senior vice president of Technology Alliances at Qlik.
“As organizations look to become more active with their data, being able to confidently leverage Qlik and Databricks together to securely share insights with key external stakeholders expands the value of data for every organization.”
