Teradata Launches VantageCloud Lake for Cloud Analytics

Teradata has announced the launch of Teradata VantageCloud Lake, a new solution for driving analytics at scale. The enterprise data analytics firm says VantageCloud Lake is designed to rapidly accelerate business outcomes for virtually any use case, including ad hoc, exploratory, and departmental workloads.

The born-in-the-cloud solution is designed to be elastic and leverages low-cost object storage at its core while offering powerful, scalable, and easy-to-use capabilities. The self-service offering will bring the capabilities of Vantage to broader and more diverse use cases, says Teradata.

To demonstrate its massive scale, Teradata earlier this year executed a 1,012 node scale test on AWS to showcase the performance and resilience of VantageCloud Lake. On its part, the older Teradata Vantage has been renamed VantageCloud Enterprise to underscore its focus as an enterprise data analytics platform.

Ability to innovate quickly

Modern workloads are often highly governed by IT, notes Teradata, and this often makes new projects difficult to get off the ground. And because new analytics projects can consume unpredictable resources and put the SLA of enterprise workloads at risk, analytics workloads at the departmental level and exploratory data science projects are often delayed or rejected.

With Teradata VantageCloud Lake, organizations now have a greater ability to innovate by quickly spinning up new workloads to leveraging open, connected data, with easy access to the various benefits Teradata offers with its flagship product.

Organizations can maintain governance and provide flexible but controlled compute resources to the business, as well as a powerful, scalable, and sustainable cloud analytics and data platform designed for the enterprise.

“Teradata VantageCloud Lake is the result of a multi-year journey to create a new paradigm for data and analytics – one where superior performance, agility, and value all go hand-in-hand,” said Hillary Ashton, the chief product officer at Teradata.

“With Teradata VantageCloud Lake, we now support all analytic workload needs at every level in the organization, enabling companies to be more nimble, experimental, and innovative in an easy-to-use solution without losing the governance and cost visibility that Teradata is known for.”

“Scale is so critical for our customer base as data volumes continue to expand and critical enterprise workloads make their way to the cloud. AWS customers can use this solution to meet their analytics needs at every level of their organization,” said Ruba Borno, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at AWS.
