Cloud computing has become the backbone of modern business operations, and the demand for robust cloud security has never been more critical. With the rapid expansion of cloud applications, organizations face a growing challenge in safeguarding their digital assets against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. This environment has led to a new, integrated Code to Cloud intelligence approach from Prisma Cloud, geared to revolutionize how enterprises manage cloud security.

According to Gartner, 65% of application workloads are expected to be cloud-optimized or cloud-ready by 2027, up from 45% in 2022. This shift signifies not just a change in technology infrastructure but also a critical need for effective security strategies to address the unique challenges of the cloud.

The Code to Cloud intelligence platform Darwin aims to address these challenges by offering a holistic approach to cloud security. Unlike traditional methods that often involve multiple, disconnected tools, this new approach provides a unified solution. It integrates insights from the development phase through application runtime, enabling security teams to effectively contextualize alerts and pinpoint remediation strategies.

Ankur Shah, senior vice president at Prisma Cloud, emphasizes the significance of this development: "The only way to secure applications from code to cloud is by fending off risk from entering the development pipeline and preventing breaches of applications in production. This can only be achieved through an intelligent CNAPP platform like Prisma Cloud that gathers intelligence throughout the application lifecycle so security teams can precisely trace vulnerabilities and misconfigurations back to their origin in the source code."

Prisma Cloud states that this approach is not just about technology but also about people. In many organizations, the ratio of developers to security professionals is overwhelmingly skewed, often as high as 100 to 1. The integrated Code to Cloud intelligence hopes to foster vital collaboration between developers and security professionals, linking security issues in production to specific remediation recommendations in the code. This collaborative approach is essential in an era where artificial intelligence in coding is accelerating the development process.

Steven Scheurmann, regional vice president for ASEAN at Palo Alto Networks, highlights the regional implications: "Adapting to the evolving landscape of cloud security is increasingly intricate, especially in the public sector. Our recent State of Cybersecurity ASEAN 2023 report indicates that 38% of organizations in the public sector across ASEAN are experiencing increasing risks through cloud-based services."

The implications of this new approach extend beyond mere risk management. As the practice director of Enterprise Security Group, Melinda Marks, points out, "It's crucial to invest in an effective security solution that supports increased development productivity from code to cloud to enable security teams to optimize security risk mitigation and protect their applications to enable business growth."

Prisma Cloud shares the real-world impact of this approach in the experiences of companies like Quantiphi. Amit Dhawan, CISO and DPO of Quantiphi explains how the integrated Code to Cloud intelligence has enhanced their security posture: "Prisma Cloud provides real-time misconfiguration and security insights, and with clients in sectors like banking, healthcare, and finance, Prisma Cloud has helped us meet strict compliance standards effortlessly."
